It is illegal to hide or obscure your license plate while on public roads?
This device is not DOT approved, and was made for off-road use only. Legal usage includes using Flip Plate while: your car is parked, on private property, at car-shows or other events.

Does Flip Flate come assembled?
Yes, each kit comes completely assembled, down to every nut and bolt, ready to install.

Do I need to know how to run electrical wires?
No actual wiring is necessary, but wires will need to be run under your interior panels so that no wires are exposed for a clean installation.

What powers Flip Plate?
FlipPlate is powered by a 12v source (your car battery). Most users will install their kit with the supplied 12v cigarette lighter adapter. Simply plug it in to the cigarette lighter outlet in your car! For a more custom "wire-free" installation, some users will cut off the cigarette lighter adapter, and "hard-wire" directly to a 12v source.

Flip Plate is a mechanical device that works based off of a spring-loaded hinge, and powered by an electric motor.

How long does Flip Plate take to install?
Flip Plate installs in minutes! The average installation takes between 10-20 minutes.

What tools will I need to install the kit?
Most installations are done only with a screwdriver! Some license plates are mounted differently and may require slightly different tools, but only the most basic hand tools are required. Mounting the activation switch is recommended, which may require a drill to make a small mounting hole in a convenient interior panel.

How long will it take for me to receive my order?
The average order arrives in 1 to 2 weeks.

Where can I use my plate?
This product is to be used ONLY on private property! Should the plate happen to malfunction while on route it will obstruct the view of your license plate. The obstruction of your license plate is illegal in most states/provinces. We recommend that before using your plate that you check your local bylaws.

Does Flip Plate require any maintenance?
The only maintenance you will need to perform is to lubricate the 3 pivot points. This requires only a small squirt of WD-40 or other lubricant, and only needs to be done periodically.  Frequency depends on how often you flip your plate.

When should I use Flip Plate?

The product was designed for car shows. Many car show participants find the need to remove their license plate to maintain their privacy. Now by the easy flick of a switch, your plate disappears!
